In 100 years of advances in orthodontics, the dominant role of the orthodontist has always been governed by the existence of the bracket. New creations have always considered their structure, performance, and design to facilitate the orthodontist’s work and reduce the time spent in the office, making him or her the key marketer of this product. However, patients must continue to endure the inconvenience of a cumbersome and unsightly system that not only affects chewing, hygiene, and muscular function, but also alters speech, communication, and self-esteem to a high degree.

Since 2004, qualified professionals of our study group headed by Dr. Joaquín T. Ariza Olaya, started important standardized laboratory tests simultaneously in Bogota and New York, with the main objective of finding a Minimally Invasive Orthodontic (MIO) procedure providing a viable solution to the inconveniences that occur with the current orthodontic appliances.
These tests determined that real tooth movement could be obtained, obviating the use of the bracket with assembly and handling protocols with excellent results, like those obtained with conventional techniques that use the bracket as the main attachment.
